Due to space limitation, only 70-75 people can be accomadated for the program. Please call any of the  Committee members given and confirm how many will be attending the concert.

Please do not bring children who are not yet ready to appreciate music.

Performer's Profile

Vocalist: Smt. Sangeeta Katti Kulkarni

Sangeeta Katti Kulkarni was born in Dharwad as a child prodigy in music. She started showing unusual interest and knowledge of music at a tender age. Sangeeta received encouragement to pursue her interest in music from her father, Mr. H. A. Katti. Famous music director Naushad ali of Bombay visited four year old Sangeeta's home after hearing about her talents. He was very much impressed by her knowledge of music and described her as a wonder in music.

Sangeeta received the advanced training in Hindustani classical music from Pt. Padmabhushana Basavaraj Rajguru (Dharwad) Padmavibhushana Smt. Kishori Amonkar (Bombay).

She recently performed in several U.S. cities.

Sangeeta has a very rich performance experience in: Hindustani classical recital, Sugam Sangeet recital, Sangeet Sarita concerts (Ragas and Hindi film songs based on these ragas), Bhajans, and concerts in Hindustani classical music all over India. Cities include Delhi, Bombay, Chennai, Nagpur, Nasik, Pune, Hyderabad, and Bangalore.

Concerts include:

  • Prestigious program like the Spirit of Unity Concert (at Chennai, an International level concert),
  • Mysore Dasara festivals,
  • Sahyadri Utsav and Hampi Utsav.

Master Recording Co. of Chennai and HMV, leading recording companies of India, has released more than 50 of Sangeeta's audio cassettes (in Hindi and Kannada). Some of the titles are listed below:

  • Vani Veenapani Deepanjali Shiva Parvati Karnataka Kshetra darshana
  • Mantralaya Mandiradallli Shravana Dasa Sourabha, etc.

As a popular cine Play Back Singer, Sangeeta has sung for more than 100 Kannada films. Some of the famous are listed below:

  • Sindhura Tilaka Belli Modagalu Saptapadi Ready made Ganda
  • Odahuttidavaru Naga mandala Janumada Jodi Hetta Karulu
  • Sangeeta has won following Best play back singer awards.
  • Chitra Rasikara Sangha award (1991-92)
  • Aryabhata award (1995)
  • Knockout Uday TV award (1998)

She has had the previledge of singing with Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna (Cassettes),
Dr. Rajkumar, S.P. Balasubramanyam and P.B. Shrinivas (In films), under the leading music directors like Upendrakumar, Vijayabhaskar, C. Ashwath, Keeravani, Hamsalekha, V.Manohar and others. Sangeeta is a common figure on TV and on Radio. She has given TV performances in Mumbai, Chennai, Nagpur, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

Sangeeta is a rare fusion of Hindustani classical, Sugam Sangeet and Cine Play Back Singing. All leading news papers and magazines have praised her unique talents and achievements by publishing many articles from time to time.
